Hi Folks,

Here are a few reminders and some tips to help keep you on track this week. Those of you that got the torso exercises, do them daily, and look forward to doing them. You "vill" enjoy them.

Everybody stay out of your shoulders. I will be poking and prodding for tension in the traps when I see you next so hang loose. Think Gregory Hines. You perfectionists out there you know who you are, paint like Jackson Pollock. Use the barbaric left hand (your wild and untamed side if you will) to teach the right to let go and flow. Did I tell you all to work to music? Let go of the intellect and get lost in it, cheap vacation. I hope that those of you that have the infinity striking pattern are practicing it with every possible weapon and object. I hope you come up with some great ones right out of your individual environments and tell me about them next class. Be ready to tell me how you modified them and why? Remember the footwork drills, think Flashdance. You Shaolin people remember you have to be able to run out of stance at any point, so keep it shoulder width. I will be trying to find time and motivation to write a few paragraphs each week on history or concepts of what we are learning so not to waste class time.

I got in some great rattan sticks and anyone needing some can buy
a pair. I am working on getting fans and padding. Some of you raised some interesting questions this week. There was a question raised about passing the knife. Try this technique with an opponent that is your height or taller than you are (or bring a two foot pedestal for me to work from next class) and I think you will see the value of this technique.

Yours in the art,
Simu Patti Everett
